Job Description

The Nutrition Service Supervisor supports management, planning, and coordination of activities within the Nutrition Services Department to provide nutritional services to patients, employees, and guests. The position involves implementing policies and procedures to support administrative functions related to cafeteria management, food preparation, distribution, service, purchasing, sanitation standards, safety practices, staffing, and staff development. Additionally, the Supervisor may assist the Dietitian with nutrition assessments if qualified.

The Supervisor is responsible for fostering an environment and culture that enables the department to meet or exceed its goals. This includes ensuring the delivery of quality, equitable, and culturally competent patient-centered care; promoting an inclusive, respectful, and accepting work environment; and providing ongoing cultural and sensitivity training for new and existing employees to meet the needs of the patient population served.

Qualifications
  • CDM or Dietetic Technician registration with ADA if required by State or other regulatory agency.
  • Current member of ADA if required by State or other regulatory agency.
Education, Training, and Experience
  • Graduate of an associate degree program in food service; knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, hospital food service operations, and HACCP guidelines.
  • At least two years of healthcare food service experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
Machines and Equipment Used

General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, and computer.

Physical Requirements
  • Good visual acuity and communication abilities.
  • Ability to lift, push/pull, and retrieve objects regularly, including lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Proficiency in safe retrieval from above the head up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing and walking.
  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care and equipment setup.
Compliance
  • Adherence to the company's Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Maintaining current licensure and certifications, if applicable.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
Environmental Conditions
  • Indoor, temperature-controlled, smoke-free environment with occasional outdoor exposure.
  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Accessible to handicapped individuals.
  • Possible wet surfaces, sharp objects, high noise levels, and temperature extremes.
  • Work may be stressful at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards
  • Meet attendance standards.
  • Adhere to hospital/department dress code, including wearing ID badges.
  • Work on weekdays, weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as needed.
  • Respond to disaster situations and work beyond regular hours if required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
