Job Title: School Lunch Program Floater (Full-Time)

Position Summary

Beatrice Public School Lunch Program Floater is a full‑time position responsible for supporting meal service operations between the elementary and high school within the district. This role serves as a flexible team member who can work in all areas of the school kitchen, filling in as needed to ensure smooth daily operations. The Floater must be adaptable, dependable, and willing to learn all aspects of the school nutrition program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Rotate between assigned schools to support kitchen operations as needed
• Learn and perform all positions within the school kitchen, including:
  • Food preparation and cooking
  • Serving students during meal periods
  • Cashier/POS system operation
  • Offer Versus Serve (OVS) requirements, as applicable
  • Dishwashing and kitchen sanitation
  • Receiving and storing food and supplies
• Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines
• Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, food safety standards, and district policies
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, equipment, and storage areas
• Assist with inventory control and proper food storage
• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, director, and school administration
• Provide coverage for absences, staff shortages, or increased workload
• Support special meal accommodations (allergies, special diets) as required
• Model professionalism and positive interactions with students and staff

Qualifications

Work Schedule

Full‑time position. Schedule may vary depending on school needs and assignments.

• Elementary school hours: 6:30am–2:30pm
• High school hours: 7am–3pm. Work locations will rotate among multiple schools within the district.

• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday
