Job summary

SLA is seeking a Food Service Worker Floater to support multiple school sites in preparing and serving meals, ensuring smooth kitchen operations across locations. The role requires reliability, adaptability, and teamwork in a fast-paced school environment.

You will travel between sites, follow recipes and safety standards, restock serving areas, and assist with deliveries. This is a full-time position with responsibilities that support students, staff, and the school community.

Qualifications

• Prior food service or cleaning experience preferred.
• Reliable transportation to travel between sites daily.
• Strong work ethic and ability to adapt to changing needs.
• Comfortable in fast-paced environments.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Must pass background check and fingerprint screening.

Responsibilities

• Travel between school sites as scheduled to assist with daily kitchen operations
• Prepare and serve food according to recipes, production records, and safety standards
• Keep workspaces clean, organized, and safe
• Restock serving areas such as food lines, salad bars, and milk boxes
• Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries using FIFO practices
• Serve meals to students, staff, and guests with a positive attitude
• Perform routine cleaning tasks like sweeping, mopping, and trash removal
• Follow all health and safety regulations at each site
• Step in to support kitchen teams or cover absences
• Submit reports and complete assigned tasks on time
• Take direction from Kitchen Managers and adjust quickly to new team dynamics

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Must be able to stand for an entire shift and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Frequent bending, reaching, walking, and use of hands
• Varying kitchen environments with moderate noise levels
• Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended weeks
• Must be able to drive between school sites and attend company meetings as needed
