Job summary

SLA is seeking a Food Service Worker Floater for a part-time role that travels to multiple school sites. You will assist in preparing and serving meals, maintaining clean kitchens, and delivering friendly service while covering coverage across locations.

The position requires reliability, adaptability, and the ability to work in various kitchen environments with a team of school staff. This is a school-based role with a focus on community service.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service or cleaning is preferred.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to different locations daily.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs and work in varied environments.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced settings and handling multiple tasks.
• Basic math and computer skills for daily tasks.
• Must pass background check and fingerprint screening and MVR.
• Enjoys working around children and being part of a school community.
• Respectful, inclusive, and able to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Travel between school sites as scheduled to assist with daily kitchen operations.
• Prepare and serve food according to recipes, production records, and safety standards.
• Keep workspaces clean, organized, and safe.
• Restock serving areas such as food lines, salad bars, and milk boxes.
• Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries using FIFO practices.
• Serve meals to students, staff, and guests with a positive attitude.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks like sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
• Follow all health and safety regulations at each site.
• Step in to support kitchen teams or cover absences.
• Submit reports and complete assigned tasks on time.
• Take direction from Kitchen Managers and adjust quickly to new team dynamics.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Must be able to stand for an entire shift and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Frequent bending, reaching, walking, and use of hands
• Varying kitchen environments with moderate noise levels
• Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended weeks
• Must be able to drive between school sites and attend company meetings as needed
