Job summary

Intermountain Health St George Regional Hospital is seeking an on-call PRN Kitchen Attendant to support dishwashing, cleaning, and basic food prep across multiple stations. You will maintain sanitary conditions in the Culinary Department per hospital, Health Department, and Joint Commission standards.

Responsibilities include handling cash/transactions as needed, stocking supplies, and assisting with catered functions while ensuring food safety and quality at all times.

Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work (required only in the states of Utah and Idaho).
  • Demonstrates ability to read color coded labels and chemicals as well as following written and verbal directions
  • Demonstrate ability to operate housekeeping equipment and dish machine (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes
  • Collects carts with patient trays from hospital floors
  • Cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures
  • Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards
  • Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash
  • Operates and maintains assigned equipment (e.g. commercial dishwasher) according to established procedures
  • Balances and reconciles drawer
  • Sets up and services catered functions according to requested level and scope of service
  • Performs food preparation functions following standard recipe (e.g., salads, sandwiches, vegetables, fruit)
  • Maintains an organized and sanitary working environment
  • Maintains proper quantities of production with rotation of product
  • Follows HACCP standards

Position Stations To Support
  • Dish Room: Cleans and sanitizes dishes with and without department equipment, disinfects areas & properly disposing of waste & trash.
  • Barista Station: Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages with precision and care.
  • Salad/Deli Station: Create fresh and delicious salads and deli items, ensuring high-quality presentation.
  • Pizza and Pasta Station: Craft mouth-watering pizzas and pasta dishes, maintaining consistency and taste.
  • Grill Station: Cook and serve grilled items to perfection, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
  • Entrée Serving: Plate and serve main courses with attention to detail and customer preferences.
  • Action Station: Engage with customers while preparing made-to-order dishes, showcasing your culinary skills.
  • Cashiering: Handle transactions efficiently and accurately, providing excellent customer service.
Position Details
  • PRN, on call and as needed
  • Pay Rate: Based on Experience ($17.68 - $22.99)
  • Availability needed: Sunday-Saturday 7am-6pm for 8 hour shifts

Job Essentials
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes and trays manually by hand and with assigned equipment according to established procedures.
  • Obtains food and/or supplies from storeroom.
  • Stocks and cleans.
  • Independently resolves customer service issues.
  • Performs accurate cash/credit transactions according to corporate standards.
  • Balances and reconciles drawer.
  • Knows menu, portion, and price prior to meal service to provide appropriate service to customers, including answering questions and serving food.
  • Sets up and services catered functions according to requested level and scope of service.
  • Performs food preparation functions (following standard recipe, assembling ingredients), for example, prepares salads, sandwiches, vegetables, and fruit.
  • Understands modified diets and prepares modified recipes using appropriate techniques.Maintains an organized and sanitary working environment.
  • Maintains proper quantities of production with appropriate rotation of product.
  • Performs housekeeping functions including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, floor care, and equipment (oven, fryer, hoods).
  • Follows HACCP standards.

Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Occasional interaction with customers that requires employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
  • Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work around dish machines and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.
