Job summary

SOMERSET STAFFING in New York, NY is seeking a highly motivated IT Support/Datacenter Admin with strong customer service and hands-on skills. The role requires expertise across Windows Server, Linux, AD management, storage configurations (RAID), and extensive virtualization with Nutanix AHV and VMware migrations.

This is a fully onsite position five days a week, with travel to various company locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field, 5+ years IT support experience.
• Experience in data center operations and onsite support.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP compliant practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site IT support across servers, storage, and networks.
• Perform patch, firmware updates and baseline configurations.
• Lead Nutanix/VMware migrations and cluster deployments.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning and backups.

Seeking a highly motivated candidate who demonstrates commitment to customer service and possesses strong technical skills and proficiency working with:
Windows Server operating systems, Linux Operating Systems, users administration, file system, software, and services
Understanding of servers and various storage RAID configuration
Active Directory management, including backup and recovery of domain and GPO setup
In-Depth Knowledge of Nutanix Hypervisor Migration best practices Required
In-Depth Knowledge of VMware Hypervisor Migration to Nutanix AHV Hypervisor
Knowledge in Nutanix Cluster Deployment - required
Fundamental networking concepts and troubleshooting such as DHCP, DNS, Routing, Firewall
Fundamental understanding of security principles, ACL, Encryption
Scripting: PowerShell, bash, ksh or perl for automating routine tasks
Experienced with monitoring system health and performance, able to provide statistics to identify bottlenecks and lead optimization efforts
Disaster recovery planning and ability to perform backup and restore for systems, applications and data
Patch and firmware installation and management
Understanding of Baselining, utilizing Industrial Defender preferred
Candidate must be knowledgeable of Darksite patching of Nutanix Hypervisor and components as well as other Hypervisors. - preferred
Bachelor's degree (preferably in Information Technology) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in IT Support.
Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance and how it effects best practices in Datacenters - Preferred

The ideal candidate is well organized, detail-oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines with a safety mindset. This individual must also exercise good judgement, integrity, and render sound business decisions. The applicant should possess strong oral and written communication skills and able to produce documentation on solutions and system design. The successful candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of various computing platforms from servers, networks, storage including scripting experience for automation. Must have the ability to lift/transport server equipment when needed. Must be able to provide off‑hour, on‑call support for server and other system related issues that requires travel to various supported sites. Must be willing and able to work overtime and be flexible with work hours to respond to emergencies or scheduled work that must be done either prior to or after normal business hours. Must have the means and be able to travel to various Company locations. Must have a valid driver's license. This position is fully onsite, 5 days a week
