Job summary

Expert Technology Services in New York is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to provide high-level customer support for IT systems. You will manage Windows Server and Linux, configure Active Directory, and lead VMware-to-Nutanix migrations.

Responsibilities include server/storage configuration, security practices, scripting for automation, disaster recovery planning, and on-site support. A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of IT experience are required; travel and on-call duties

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in IT support.
• Experience administering Windows/Linux servers and Active Directory.
• VMware to Nutanix AHV migrations experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level customer service and technical support for IT infrastructure.
• Manage and administer Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including user accounts, file systems, software, and services.
• Configure and manage servers and various RAID storage setups.
• Administer Active Directory, including backup, recovery, and Group Policy Object (GPO) setup.
• Lead and execute VMware Hypervisor migrations to Nutanix AHV and implement Nutanix Cluster deployments.
• Apply in-depth knowledge and best practices for Nutanix Hypervisor migration.
• Troubleshoot and manage basic networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
• Apply security principles, including ACLs, encryption, and fundamental IT security best practices.
• Write and maintain scripts in PowerShell, bash, ksh, or perl to automate routine tasks.
• Monitor system health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and lead optimization efforts based on performance statistics.
• Develop and execute disaster recovery plans, including performing system, application, and data backups/restores.
• Manage patching and firmware updates for systems and devices.
• Onsite attendance required, 5 days a week.
• Provide off-hour, on-call support, including travel to various company-supported sites.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours to address emergencies or scheduled maintenance outside normal business hours.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation.

• Adhere to safety protocols and exercise sound judgment, integrity, and business decision-making.
