Job summary

The Diocese of St. Augustine is seeking an Early Learning Assistant Teacher for the morning program (8 A.M. - 1 P.M.).

Under the lead teacher and director, you will help create a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where children develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. Responsibilities include planning and supporting developmentally appropriate activities, assisting in daily lesson plans, conducting health checks, and partnering with families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• DCF 45-hour training preferred or started within 30 days of hire and completed within 6 months
• Prior experience in a child care setting preferred
• Knowledge of child growth and development for birth to 5 years
• Must pass criminal background check before and every five years; complete Protecting God's Children (PGC) before employment
• Must complete TB screening and physical within ten days of hire and every two years
• Must register and complete Infant & Child First Aid and CPR within 6 months of hire and renew before expiration
• Must complete 35 hours of in-service training each fiscal year

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing a culturally sensitive educational program for ages birth to 5
• Assist daily lesson plans based on approved curriculum to promote development
• Assist in ongoing assessment and documentation
• Help plan a balanced daily routine with teacher- and child-directed activities
• Provide a developmentally appropriate, stimulating learning environment with new materials weekly
• Attend parent meetings and communicate children's progress
• Participate in on-site and off-site professional development (min 35 hours annually)
• Maintain confidentiality
