Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking a Nursing & ICU Veterinary Technician in Idaho. The role involves supervising patients, assisting with procedures, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, client education, and collaboration with the DVM.

Ideal candidates have prior veterinary experience with nursing or critical care, strong math skills for dosage calculations, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering clear client communication.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Position

Nursing & ICU Veterinary Technician

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:
