Job summary

Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge is seeking a Supervisor of Nursing to oversee daily operations of the hospital's nursing department, ensuring high standards of patient care and staff performance. You will coordinate schedules, manage workflow and guide nursing staff while ensuring compliance with hospital policies.

The role emphasizes leadership, clinical excellence, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to promote efficient care delivery and positive patient experiences.

Qualifications

• 2 years of clinical experience including time in a charge nurse and preceptor role
• Active state RN license, BLS

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruitment, interview, selection and unit-specific orientation processes for new department team members
• Plans and assists with the development of staff work schedules for unit leaders’ final review
• Maintains appropriate data on employee time and attendance, making payroll correction adjustments according to unit standards
• Under supervision of the unit leader, addresses employee behavioral issues timely and effectively, escalating to unit leader and documenting events to address corrective behavior
• Demonstrates ability to coach and mentor staff; communicates in an effective, professional manner
• Participates in the annual performance review process for unit employees in a timely and effective manner
• Facilitates patient throughput in the admission/discharge/transfer process
• Serves as a clinical resource to the staff
• Addresses and resolves patient concerns or informal grievances, escalating feedback to the unit leader
• Organizes unit-based shared governance meetings and drafts department unit meeting agendas
• Supervises clinical care by maintaining high visibility to patients/families and staff
• Provides support for policy, procedures, equipment or new product education
• Supports adherence to regulatory standards and audits of medical records and unit logs

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
