Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a current, unrestricted nursing license in the state of practice.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Minimum of five years of nursing experience with demonstrated clinical leadership/management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the department in an efficient manner by planning, organizing and controlling all activities of the department.
• Enforces work standards and procedures in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
• Incorporates total quality management concepts into unit operations.
• Develops and enforces principles of effective nursing care on the unit.
• Develops communications between unit personnel, physicians and other departments to ensure coordination of care.
• Provides direct patient care when required and ensures appropriate age-specific nursing care.
• Relieves other nurse managers and supervisors as needed and may work varied shifts for orientation and evaluation.
• Maintains up-to-date nursing knowledge to recommend new services, products and equipment.
• Participates in staff development and in-service training; maintains licensure and records.
