Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor (12MO), Tenure-Track, College of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. The role focuses on expert teaching, clinical planning, and student mentorship in a diverse, metropolitan medical center.

The successful candidate will lead academic advising, supervise student clinical work, advance research and scholarly activity, and direct student research for advanced degrees.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Nursing or equivalent.
New York State Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner license.
4 years of teaching experience in academia.
3–5 years of clinical practice experience.
Evidence of current scholarship.
Or a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Responsibilities

Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through expert teaching.
Plan clinical and simulation experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of students delivering nursing care.
Serve as Academic Advisor for students.
Evaluate and provide documented feedback on students' performance.
Mentor students in evidence-based research and scholarship.
Develop a program of research and publish findings in professional journals.
