Job summary

Responsibilities

• Represent hospital Administration as a delegated administrative leader and visible resource for staff, patients, families, physicians, and departments.
• Conduct rounds across patient care units to assess environment and nursing care delivery.
• Support nursing teams in delivering safe, compassionate care per standards and regulatory requirements.
• Promote open communication and accessibility to staff for ongoing concerns.
• Monitor compliance with hospital policies, quality initiatives, patient safety, and infection prevention.
• Coordinate and escalate relevant incidents to administrators and risk management when needed.
• Coordinate emergency responses and disaster plan implementations.

As a Nursing Supervisor Administrative, a typical day may include:

• Representing hospital Administration as a delegated administrative leader and serving as a visible resource for nursing staff, patients, families, physicians, and other hospital departments

• Conducting rounds across patient care units to evaluate the physical environment, assess the delivery of nursing care, and identify opportunities requiring leadership support

• Supporting nursing teams in delivering safe, compassionate care based on the nursing process, established standards of practice, and applicable regulatory requirements

• Promoting an environment of open communication by remaining accessible to staff, facilitating unit communication, and helping teams navigate clinical and operational concerns

• Monitoring compliance with hospital and departmental policies, quality assurance initiatives, patient safety practices, environmental standards, and infection prevention requirements

• Identifying hospital-related incidents and ensuring appropriate communication and escalation to the Administrator On-Call, Risk Management, and other leaders when necessary

• Coordinating and directing appropriate responses to emergency situations while supporting the implementation of internal and external disaster plans

• Collecting, trending, analyzing, and reporting Behavioral Health data to identify opportunities for quality improvement and support measurable patient care outcomes

• Evaluating available resources and helping nursing teams use staffing and operational resources effectively to support productivity and quality patient care

• Promoting patient rights, dignity, respect, compassion, and confidentiality throughout interactions with patients and their significant others

• Collaborating with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital departments, patients, families, and visitors to resolve concerns and promote effective hospital operations

• Maintaining current knowledge of nursing practice while contributing to quality initiatives, problem solving, and continued improvement across the Behavioral Health System

To be considered for this Nursing Supervisor Administrative opportunity, you must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold a current New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or current matriculation toward a baccalaureate nursing degree, is required. Candidates must possess at least three years of psychiatric nursing experience along with nursing experience demonstrating progressive management responsibility. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong Behavioral Health clinical knowledge, nursing leadership, communication, emergency response, resource management, quality improvement, data collection and analysis, and problem-solving skills. Candidates should also be comfortable working with varied computer software programs and collaborating across patient care departments while serving as a visible administrative and clinical resource for staff.
