Job summary

McHenry County College is seeking a proven leader to manage the Nursing Skills Laboratories and Simulation Laboratory, providing experiential learning through skills practice, simulations, competence assessments and remediation for nursing students.

This role directs lab operations, equipment maintenance, scheduling, and integration with faculty, supports accreditation activities, and participates in college committees while advancing equity, inclusion and student success.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Current Illinois R.N. License.
• CPR Instructor certification by the American Heart Association.
• Nursing work experience in a hospital setting within the past five years.
• Minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience.
• Experience with Laerdal simulation technologies, equipment, and software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the Nursing Skills laboratories.
• Develop and conduct clinical simulation scenarios using high and low fidelity equipment.
• Evaluate nursing students’ clinical competency through direct observation and assessments.
• Monitor departmental budgetary expenditures for consumable materials.
• Schedule and coordinate room usage for classes and labs.
• Orient students and faculty to nursing skills laboratories.
• Guide students through remediation to achieve learning objectives and maintain equipment.
• Ensure safe use of lab equipment and technologies.
• Develop and maintain lab guidelines and manuals.
• Participate in college committees and accreditation activities.
• Assist in recruitment and orientation of Nursing students.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
