Job summary

The Research College of Nursing in the Kansas City area seeks a Director of Simulation Lab to lead the college’s simulation initiatives for the BSN program, partnering with faculty to ensure high-quality learning experiences.

You will oversee simulation experiences, develop policies, train staff, manage equipment, and collaborate on scholarly projects, maintaining safety and alignment with INACSL standards and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• CHSE certification must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date.
• RN (Registered Nurse) is required.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Minimum of 4 years health professional educator experience that includes the use of simulation.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support in the simulation laboratory for students and faculty to improve competencies and skills in meeting course student learning outcomes through simulation experiences.
• Direct the development, implementation, and revision of simulation experiences in collaboration with faculty that are based on course student learning outcomes.
• Provide regular and systematic feedback to faculty on their performance in the simulation regarding simulation implementation and debriefing.
• Create/maintain/improve policies and procedures to ensure evidence-based simulation and promote the learning and psychological safety of students.
• Conduct the orientation, training, and ongoing professional development in the use of simulation in nursing education according to INACSL standards of best practice.
• Develop and conduct evaluations related to the effectiveness of simulated learning.
• Maintain and report data regarding student achievement of learning outcomes through simulation experiences and provide recommendations for quality improvement.
• Participate in scholarly research and quality improvement initiatives related to simulated learning that is consistent with college needs and priorities.
• Maintain and update simulation laboratory to include, but not limited to: identifying needed software; supply and equipment needs; monitoring simulation equipment; troubleshooting; and resolving staffing problems.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of consumable supplies in simulation laboratory.
• Schedule learning experiences in the simulation laboratory in collaboration with academic leaders.
• Manage relationships with simulation vendors.
• Supervise laboratory personnel.
