Job summary

Portland Community College is seeking casual Standardized Participants to support its nursing program. This on-call, part-time role offers a $25.05/hour range and requires acting experience, reliability, and strong communication while portraying patients or other healthcare roles in simulations.

The position emphasizes consistent performance, confidentiality, and collaboration with faculty to help students develop clinical judgment and communication skills in a formative educational setting.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and deliver consistent performances.
• Experience as an actor or standardized participant.
• Dependable, organized, and punctual.
• Receptive to direction and feedback from faculty and simulation staff.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Accurately portraying physical, emotional, and behavioral characteristics of patients, family members or healthcare professionals based on provided case materials.
• Memorizing and consistently repeating key scenario details or responses.
• Maintaining a high level of professionalism, consistency, and confidentiality throughout all learning activities.
• Collaborating with faculty, staff, and fellow SPs to support student learning objectives.
