Job summary

Hood College in Frederick, MD seeks a full-time (10-month) Professor of Practice in Nursing who will also direct the school’s simulation program. The role blends leadership, administration, and teaching across Hood College’s nursing curriculum with accreditation responsibilities and a focus on authentic clinical experiences.

The candidate should have MSN, with preferred Doctorate and at least five years in nursing education, including simulation.

Qualifications

• Required: MSN in Nursing.
• Preferred: Doctorate (DNP, PhD, or other terminal degree) or doctoral candidacy with relevant leadership/education experience. If PhD is not in nursing, must have an MSN.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the simulation center, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, inventory, room configuration, and safety protocols.
• Manage relationships with vendors, service contracts, technology upgrades, and LMS integrations.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
• Develop and monitor program metrics (student performance, confidence, clinical judgment, patient safety outcomes).
• Lead research initiatives, program evaluation, and dissemination of results through conferences and publications.
• Prepare reports for accreditation bodies and department leadership.
• Develop and manage the simulation program budget and authorize purchases.
• Supervise simulation staff and instructional designers; support performance reviews.
• Partner with clinical sites to ensure authentic, clinically relevant experiences.
• Promote student placement opportunities for simulation-based learning in real-world settings.
