Job summary

County of Ventura is seeking a Nursing Shift Manager to oversee an adult inpatient care unit. The role includes supervising nursing staff, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, and maintaining high standards of patient care.

The incumbent will supervise day-to-day operations, participate in staffing decisions, and coordinate with other departments to optimize patient flow. Registration as a California RN and BLS/ACLS/TNCC/PALS certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Two (2) years of full-time professional RN experience in the assigned hospital specialty area.
• Two (2) years of full-time supervisory/lead experience.

Responsibilities

• Assumes accountability for staffing and quality of care on the Nursing Unit.
• Reviews and establishes unit practice standards; coordinates staff training.
• Promotes best nursing practices and supports continuous staff development.
• Maintains clear communication among nursing, medical, and ancillary staff.
• Recruits, hires, orients, and manages staff development programs for nursing staff.
