Job summary

PACS is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities during the tour of duty, ensuring care quality and compliance with federal, state, and local standards. The RN will assist the Director of Nursing in directing daily nursing functions, developing and updating policies, maintaining current reference materials, and ensuring nursing staff adhere to procedures.

Collaboration with other departments is essential to sustain resident well-being.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
• Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
• Ensure that reference material maintained at the nurses’ stations is current and accurate; recommend materials to assist the nursing service department.
• Ensure Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and reflects day-to-day nursing procedures.
• Ensure all nursing service personnel comply with procedures in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
• Make written and oral reports to the Director as necessary about the operation of nursing service.
• Review department policies and procedures and revise as needed.
• Assist in coordinating nursing services with other resident services for continuity of care.
• Ensure staff are in compliance with job descriptions and QA programs.
• Participate in facility surveys by government agencies.
• Review and update discharge plans as required.
• Plan nursing services portion of resident discharge plans as necessary.
• Meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan services and activities.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
• Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
