Job summary

Sandstone Post Acute in Bryan, OH is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to assist the DON in planning, directing and improving Nursing Services in accordance with state and federal requirements.

The role emphasizes staff leadership, policy interpretation, quality assurance, budgeting, and collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate, and compliant resident care.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in OHIO.
• Must have, as a minimum, 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing home, or other related health care facility.
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, organizes, directs and evaluates the overall operations of the Nursing Services department in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Interprets and communicates policies to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation.
• Participates in all admission decisions.
• Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss census changes and resident status.
• Evaluates work performance of nursing personnel and applies discipline per policies.
• Participates in QAPI or facility assessment activities as needed.
• Facilitates committees and participates in various facility activities.
• Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care with adequate staffing and resident function.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to improve service quality.
• Oversees nursing schedules to meet resident needs and budget standards.
• Participates in recruitment, hiring and termination of nursing personnel.
• Performs rounds to observe residents and ensure nursing needs are met.
• Supervises in-service education to keep staff updated on current knowledge and skills.
• Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
• Monitors infection control programs to prevent disease transmission.
• Participates in budgeting for nursing, medical and central supplies.
• Assists in inspection surveys and mock surveys as indicated.
• Participates in corrective action plans and resolutions for nursing issues.
• Communicates with residents, staff, families and leadership to coordinate care and address concerns.
• Oversees resident incidents and reports to Administrator or state agency as needed.
• Monitors for abuse/neglect and participates in investigations.
• Promotes safe work practices and accident prevention.
• May provide direct nursing care as necessary.
• Acts administratively in the absence of the Administrator.
• On-call rotation with other nursing staff.
