Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
• Experience in nursing service administration, rehabilitation, psychiatric or geriatric nursing.
• One or more years of demonstrated nursing administration/supervision in a health facility in the last 5 years.
• Supervisory/operations management experience with knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/Managed Care reimbursement rules.
• Demonstrates leadership and effective interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for coordinating plans for total resident care per physician orders and regulations.
• Develops, maintains, and upgrades nursing service objectives, standards, and job descriptions.
• Participates in recruitment, hiring, orientation, and training of nursing staff.
• Controls nursing service hours and supply costs; advises on staffing and equipment needs.
• Participates in admission and discharge planning for residents.
• Communicates with doctors, residents, and families about health status.
• Maintains contact with physicians as required by policy and regulations.
• Implements new policies and provides staff training.
• Ensures continuity of resident care with outside services and resources.
• Maintains good interpersonal relationships with residents, families, staff, and community.
