Job summary

Othello Community Hospital, a full-service critical access facility in Othello, WA, is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to plan and maintain daily staffing and monthly nursing schedules, reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer. You will collaborate with nursing departments to ensure adequate and safe staff coverage.

This role requires applying contract terms, adjusting schedules for patient care needs, and coordinating with nursing supervisors to minimize costs while preserving quality care

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a staffing coordinator or other clerical health care experience preferred.
• Must possess the ability to manage work schedules for the Nursing staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of stressful situations. Utilize diplomacy and tact in interactions with staff and the public.
• Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher.
• Experience with Meditech and electronic scheduling systems, i.e. Kronos.
• Must have ability to work accurately with numbers and schedules.
• Ability to continuously multi-task, with strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Basic Life Support Heart Saver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of current labor contracts and administers staffing needs accordingly.
• Interprets contracts and hospital policy and uses good judgment in their application
• Assists with the posting of work schedules with approval of Nursing Department Directors. Processes Personnel Action Requests (PAR) for nursing staff in a timely manner.
• Continuously prepares, updates, double-checks, and adjusts staffing to meet patient care needs and matrix on succeeding shifts (evenings, nights, next day, weekends).
• Works closely with CNO and Nursing Supervisors to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing for all shifts. Finds replacement or coverage for absences, including sick calls, using the most cost-efficient appropriate resources.
