Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our emergency and specialty clinical team in Cleveland. This role involves supervising hospitalized patients, assisting with anesthesia, IV catheters, phlebotomy and client education, with a schedule of 7:00 am to 7:30 pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Ideal candidates hold a State Registered Veterinary Technician license, have veterinary nursing or critical care experience, and are comfortable with calculations and fast-paced work.

Qualifications

• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible with work hours and able to work extra hours when necessary
• Experience in veterinary nursing or critical care preferred

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment
• Collaborate with care team on treatment plans and client communication
• Provide client education on home care, meds and hospital care
• Assist DVM with assessment, treatment and procedures
• Monitor and care for hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation
• Perform in-house and prepare samples for external labs

We are looking for: Nursing Credentialed Veterinary Technician

Proposed Schedule: 7a-7:30p Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

This role has a hiring range of $18.75-35.00/hr based on experience.

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
