Job summary

MedVet in Cincinnati is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our emergency and specialty clinical team. This full-time role requires a State Registered Veterinary Technician license and experience in nursing or critical care.

You will participate in patient care, education, and coordination with the DVM. You will perform phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and in-house testing while delivering compassionate client communication and high-quality

Qualifications

  • State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
  • Prior veterinary nursing or critical care experience preferred.
  • Proficient with medication calculations and IV therapy.
  • Flexible schedule, including on-call hours as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
  • Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
  • Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
  • Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates.
  • Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
  • Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
  • Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
  • Perform in‑house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

Who we are looking for: Nursing Credentialed Veterinary Technician

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, every other weekend 7pm-7:30am

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow‑up and education.

What you’ll do

  • Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
  • Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
  • Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
  • Perform in‑house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing
Who you are
  • State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
  • Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
