Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our Nursing, Pharmacy and Lab team in Akron, OH. This role focuses on patient care, monitoring, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement and client education in a dynamic emergency and specialty setting.

The ideal candidate holds a State Registered Veterinary Technician license and brings prior veterinary experience, with strong communication and the ability to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Collaborate on treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and wellness.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and anesthesia procedures.
• Perform in-house lab tests and prepare samples.

We are looking for: Nursing Credentialed Veterinary Technician - Pharmacy and Lab

Proposed Schedule: 7a-7:30p Thursday, Friday, Saturday

This role has a hiring range of $18.75-35.00/hr based on experience.

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
