Job summary

Lakeland Community College in Willoughby, Ohio is seeking a full-time, 12-month Nursing Program Director to lead the associate nursing and RN-BSN programs. This role reports to the Dean for Health Professions and focuses on curriculum development, accreditation, assessment, and budgeting with faculty input.

The position requires a master’s degree in nursing and RN licensure in Ohio, with at least five years of nursing practice including faculty experience.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved registered nursing education program.
  • A master’s degree with a major in nursing, an earned doctorate is preferred.
  • Experience of at least five (5) years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse, two of which have been as a faculty member in a registered nursing education program.
  • Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.
  • Leadership experience in nursing education, healthcare administration, or an academic setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development, accreditation, and program assessment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a plan for the evaluation and improvement of curriculum based on student learning outcomes, input from faculty, administrators, clinical sites, students and advisory committees, and changes in legislation and standards.
  • Provides ongoing supervision and evaluation of nursing faculty
  • Consults with faculty regarding planning, evaluating, or revising courses and clinical experiences.
  • Participates in college processes for assessing, interviewing, and recommending finalists for full-time faculty positions; collaborates with the Dean for orientation
  • Assists the Dean in classroom observations of probationary faculty and provides input for faculty evaluation
  • Works with college departments to hire, orient, mentor and determine re-hire eligibility of part-time faculty
  • Promotes professional development of all nursing faculty
  • Develops criteria for admission, promotion and graduation of students with faculty and college units
  • Oversees the program budget and procurement of instructional materials
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with college administration and external communities
  • Ensures regular faculty meetings for evaluation and action plans
  • Facilitates accreditation and Ohio Board of Nursing approval processes
  • Plans orientation and registration for new and returning students
  • Ensures clinical onboarding requirements are completed timely with internal and external partners
  • Monitors student progress and progress toward graduation; advises on improvement plans
  • Meets with prospective graduates to review licensing procedures
  • Certifies degree completions to the Board of Nursing
  • Conducts end-of-program, graduate and employer surveys with improvement plans
  • Represents the nursing program with professional/regional organizations
  • Assembles data and prepares reports for accreditation bodies
  • Participates in grant-related activities as needed
