Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Ambulatory Surgery Center seeks a Nursing Practice Leader to act as a change agent across nursing, education, informatics, and administration to enhance patient care.

You will lead specialized services, translate clinical practice into EHR workflows (EPIC), oversee education, compliance, and performance improvement, and collaborate with IT and clinical teams to improve safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing or related field; if not in Nursing, a BSN is required.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa.
• 3–5 years of clinical experience in a large health care environment; minimum 2 years in perioperative setting.
• Minimum 1 year in a clinical leadership role in a similar setting.
• 1–3 years contributing to clinical information system implementation (design, workflow, build, training, support).
• Ability to lead change in a complex academic healthcare environment and promote IT adoption.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for nursing care delivery and documentation based on evidence and research.
• Serve as liaison between clinical teams and IT to define system requirements and ensure effective communication.
• Translate clinical practice into electronic health information systems to improve efficiencies.
• Develop and maintain high-functioning knowledge of EHR workflows and policies.
