Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital seeks a full-time Clinical Coordinator for the Float Pool to optimize nursing staffing and patient care delivery. You will allocate resources, ensure safe and compassionate care, and participate in unit-level decisions with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include staffing using the unit matrix, payroll completion, staff education, and on-call support, while promoting open communication and interdepartmental collaboration to support patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Allocates human resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate nursing care using the unit-based staffing matrix.
• Maintains safe, compassionate nursing care based on current standards and practice.
• Promotes shared decision-making and professional autonomy by providing input into unit-level decisions and informing staff at the unit level.
• Problem solves to prevent crises, assesses and evaluates unit operational issues and assists the nurse manager by sharing on-call responsibilities.
• Provides education and training based on staff needs while ensuring clinical competencies meet standards of practice.
• Facilitates an atmosphere of interactive management and collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others.
• Serves as a link in continuity of care between nursing personnel and other healthcare disciplines and supports communication for patient care continuity.
• Responsible for education and training of staff in the specialty area, staffing and scheduling using the staffing matrix, payroll completion, unit performance improvement plan, employee evaluations, and, when needed, serving as a staff nurse.
• Ensures that care is delivered with respect for patient rights and appropriate nursing services.
• Defines unit environment and promotes an open, respectful atmosphere that shares expertise to improve health outcomes.
• Collaborates with Nurse Manager or Director in planning, innovation, and evaluation of unit activities.
