Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Quitman, TX is seeking a day shift, full-time Swing Bed Unit Nursing Manager to lead a 25-bed swing bed program within a 25-bed inpatient unit, overseeing referrals, admissions, and daily operations.

The role directs approximately 5–6 direct reports, collaborates across nursing, therapy, and case management, ensures regulatory compliance, and champions patient- and family-centered care while advancing quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• RN license in Texas
• 1–3 years of clinical experience
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer to the role
• BSN preferred; inpatient or skilled nursing experience considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Oversee referrals, admissions, Activity Program, and staff for Swing Bed patients.
• Collaborate with patients, nursing, therapy, medical staff, administration, and the public.
• Coordinate admissions in partnership with Case Management.
• Serve as a key stakeholder in the Med/Surg multidisciplinary care team.
• Demonstrate professional practice and treat patients, families, staff, and physicians with dignity and respect.

Get to Know Your Team:

• UT Health Quitman offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, swing bed care, cardiopulmonary rehab, on-site physician clinics, and a sleep lab.


• Lead a specialized Swing Bed program within a 25-bed inpatient unit, serving short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation patients with an average census of 5-6 patients (up to 11-12 during peak periods).


• This role provides leadership for approximately 5-6 direct reports, including therapy and support staff, while overseeing daily operations, care coordination, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• The Swing Bed Manager will oversee and manage all referrals, admissions, Activity Program, and staff for patients admitted into Swing Bed Program.


• Collaborates efficiently with patients, nursing personnel, therapy services, medical staff, administration, and the public.


• Works closely with Case Management to coordinate appropriate admissions into program.


• Will be a key stakeholder in the Med/Surg multidisciplinary care team.


• Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice and treats patients, families, staff, and physicians with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Graduation from an approved school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas


• 1 to 3 years of clinical experience


• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
