  • Conduct clinical assessments, triage, crisis intervention, and de-escalation for clients in crisis.
  • Review documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure nursing compliance with BHA, CMS, state regulations, and contractual standards.
  • Lead nurse hiring processes with People Operations, including onboarding and training.
  • Monitor quality measures, outcomes, and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate care and improve access.

Position Summary:

The Nursing Manager of Crisis Services reports to the Director of Nursing and provides operational, nursing, and administrative leadership for 24/7 programs serving individuals experiencing behavioral health crises or transitioning from crisis stabilization services. This role ensures uninterrupted program operations, oversees the crisis nursing team, provides advanced crisis nursing assessment and intervention, and maintains compliance with state regulations and contractual requirements.

Job Duties & Functions:
  • Oversee daily operations of nurses in crisis programs to ensure uninterrupted functioning, appropriate staffing, adherence to minimum staffing requirements, and high-quality service delivery year round.
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to RNs, LPNs, MAs in crisis and administrative support-through coaching, mentoring, supervision, and performance evaluation.
  • Coordinate workforce planning and staffing for 24/7 operations, including recruitment, retention, scheduling, vacancy management, contingency staffing plans, and service continuity coverage.
  • Conduct and support clinical assessments, triage, crisis intervention, de‑escalation, and service linkage for people we serve, including providing direct care when needed during high-acuity situations or staffing shortages.
  • Review and approve documentation completed by staff as needed to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational, contractual, and regulatory standards.
  • Accountable for nursing compliance with BHA, CMS, state nursing regulations, contractual requirements, and organizational standards.
  • Lead hiring processes in collaboration with People Operations, including applicant screening, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and initial training of nurses.
  • Monitor program indicators, BHA requirements, outcomes, and quality measures; implement process improvements to increase service effectiveness, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with internal teams (pharmacy, the outpatient nurse manager) and external agencies (e.g., police, EMS, shelters, hospitals, housing services, community organizations) to ensure coordinated care, reduce barriers to access, and strengthen community service pathways.
  • Support compliance with state requirements, contractual obligations, grant expectations, and regulatory standards governing nurses' scope, crisis and residential services.
  • Complete administrative tasks including reviewing CIRs (Critical Incident Reports), approving timesheets, managing leave requests, overseeing procurement or resource management, and ensuring consistent documentation practices.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, including team meetings, cross‑departmental meetings, neighborhood stakeholder meetings, and community partner meetings.
  • Develop, update, and refine program workflows, operational procedures, guides, and training materials to maintain program effectiveness and regulatory alignment.
  • Manage communication structures that support safety and situational awareness (e.g., BOLO management), ensuring staff are prepared to respond to emergent concerns.
  • Support professional development for self and staff through training, supervision, case consultation, and reflective practice.
  • Participate in crisis on‑call rotations as required, including providing after‑hour support and leadership as needed.

EDUCATION:
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.
