We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) leader to serve as the Nurse Manager of Perioperative Services. Reporting to the Director of Perioperative/Perinatal Services, this position maintains 24/7 operational and clinical accountability across the entire perioperative continuum, including Pre-Op, OR, PACU, and GI/Endoscopy.
In this role, you will lead quality improvement, staff development, and regulatory compliance while fostering a compassionate, high-performing environment aligned with person-centered care values.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical & Operational Oversight: Manage 24/7 nursing practice, patient flow, room assignments, and staffing schedules using workforce management tools (e.g., Clairvia). Provide front-line clinical support as needed.
- Team Leadership & Development: Hire, mentor, and evaluate department staff. Lead competency assessments, education, and progressive discipline while building a collaborative, high-morale team culture.
- Quality & Compliance: Implement unit-specific Quality and Performance Improvement (QPI) plans, maintain regulatory readiness, audit patient records, and ensure adherence to clinical and safety standards.
- Physician & Interdepartmental Liaison: Partner closely with physicians, house supervisors, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve operational issues and optimize patient care delivery.
- Resource & Financial Stewardship: Review payroll (Kronos), manage overtime and agency usage, and optimize staffing mix based on patient acuity and department guidelines.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree (MSN/MHA) preferred.
- Licensure & Certifications: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; ACLS certification required. Specialty certification (e.g., CNOR) preferred.
- Experience: Extensive clinical experience in perioperative nursing (OR, Pre-op, PACU, or Endoscopy) with proven leadership or charge nurse experience.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, staff scheduling software (Clairvia), payroll systems (Kronos), and evidence-based patient care models. Excellent conflict resolution and communication skills required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing required; Master’s in nursing preferred
B. Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in perioperative nursing with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice; minimum two (2) years leadership/supervisory experience required.
- Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) preferred
