UCP Long Island is seeking a Nurse Manager to provide services and oversight for the nursing department in our Adult Day Services program in Hauppauge, NY. The role focuses on maintaining high professional nursing standards and supervising the nursing staff to support day programs for adults with disabilities.

The candidate will schedule and oversee nursing coverage, ensure regulatory compliance, and make medical decisions in coordination with the Medical Director as needed.

Qualifications

  • NYS Registered Nurse License is required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Five years of related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and ensure nursing care for Adult Day Programs & Services, including direct hands-on care.
  • Review and develop Policies and Procedures for Nursing per agency policies and procedures.
  • Supervise health staff and ensure quality medical/health services.
  • Schedule nursing coverage for all programs and coordinate per diem coverage.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance per OPWDD, Dept. of Health, OSHA and agency rules.
  • Make day-to-day medical decisions; consult Medical Director as needed.

We are seeking a Nurse Manger to provide services and oversight for our nursing department in our Adult Day Services program serving intellectually and developmentally disabled adults.

General Purpose of the Job Maintain highest quality professionalism in nursing services. Schedule, organize, assign, train, implement and provide oversight of any and all ADP nursing services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and ensure implementation of nursing care for Adult Day Programs & Services, which includes Day Treatment, Day Habilitation Waiver Programs, Vocational Rehabilitation and any other newly developed services. Includes direct hands‑on care.
  • Review, revise as needed, and develop Policy and Procedures for Adult Day Programs & Services Nursing per Agency policy & Procedures & Agency Nursing policy & Procedures and as needed for Agency emergency services in buildings serving Adult Day Programs & Services. Participate in Agency Health & Safety Committee, Agency Infection Control Committee, and as needed Disaster Preparedness/Response Committees. May act as consultant to other agency committees, including Quality Improvement & Clinical Oversight.
  • Assist, support and counsel management of Adult Day Programs & Services regarding health and safety issues for program participants & staff.
  • Schedule and arrange for needed nursing coverage of all Adult Day Programs & Services. Includes receiving and making early hour calls for per diem coverage.
  • Assures all regulatory requirements are maintained as per OPWDD, Dept. of Health, OSHA, and any other legal and agency rules, regulations, polices.
  • Responsible for day-to-day medical decisions regarding routine, emergency, and health alerts. When indicated, consults with Medical Director and/or designee and other medical consultants.
  • This is a hands‑on Supervisory position. Any & all duties as needed to support ADP & Agency.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise R.N./s and related health staff (Program Health Assistants) in the organization and delivery of quality medical/health services to meet the day program needs of participants. Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, Makes recommendations in the hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
  • NYS Registered Nurse License
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (Bachelor’s preferred). Five years related experience and/or training, minimum.
