Job summary

Worcester State University is seeking a Staff Assistant, Nursing Laboratory Coordinator (10-month/43 weeks) to lead and manage the nursing skill labs and simulation center. The role reports to the Department Chair of Nursing and may supervise graduate assistants or work-study students.

The incumbent will ensure labs run efficiently, maintain materials, and support educational technologies within the nursing programs.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing with strong medical-surgical experience.
  • Knowledge of educational technology with emphasis on nursing education.
  • One to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of equipment and latest nursing technology.
  • Operating knowledge of supply ordering process, receiving and processing equipment and supplies.
  • Advanced technology expertise.
  • Commitment to innovation and excellence in nursing education.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison with administration, faculty and students to provide Skills lab services.
  • Coordinate use of simulation technology to aid critical thinking and theory-to-clinical application.
  • Update and maintain Skills labs; develop plans, policies and procedures.
  • Supervise Nursing Lab student assistants and manage inventory.
  • Schedule lab practice rooms and coordinate master schedule with faculty.
  • Teach in Nursing Laboratories and Simulation Center.
  • Develop, produce and set up lab modules for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Maintain records of student lab participation and activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty to obtain educational resources (software, videos, equipment).
  • Provide remedial instruction and collect outcome data for programs.
  • Orient new faculty/staff/students to resources and services.
  • Support streaming video conversions for blended/online programs.
  • Assist with grant writing for lab resources and donations.
