Assistant Nurse Manager

Location: Warrensville Heights, South Pointe Hospital – Observation Unit (South Pointe)

Schedule: Nights 7:00pm‑7:30am, weekends, and holidays as required.

Job Summary

Assist the Nurse Manager in supervising staff and coordinating the observation unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the observation unit.
• Oversee nursing personnel and other patient‑care providers to maintain quality of care.
• Anticipate and resolve patient‑care issues.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit staff and other departments.
• Review major operational patient‑care issues with the Nurse Manager.
• Conduct clinical evaluations of nurses and other staff on the unit.
• Counsel employees on performance issues and administer corrective actions.
• Participate in interviewing, selecting, and appraising employees.
• Monitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
• Administer Nursing Institute, departmental, and CC policies and procedures.
• Monitor daily clinical operations of outpatient clinics (patient flow, staffing, supplies).
• Prepare work‑assignment schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
• Support quality‑improvement projects, outcomes studies, and research initiatives.
• Assist with orientation, continuing education, and in‑service education programs.

Qualifications
