Position Overview:

The Nurse Intern delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nurse Intern assists the nursing team in providing care consistent with their education, training, demonstrated competencies, validated skills, and the needs of the department. The Nurse Intern also assists the patient care team in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment.

As the Nurse Intern progresses through their nursing program, responsibilities and permitted skills may advance based on academic progression, demonstrated competency, and successful skill validation. The Nurse Intern may perform additional or higher-level patient care procedures when appropriate to their level of nursing education and training, in accordance with their nursing program's approved skills, CMH policies and procedures, department-specific requirements, and documented competency validation. All care is performed under appropriate RN supervision and within the established scope of the Nurse Intern role.

The Nurse Intern must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an approved accredited school of nursing and have successfully completed at least the first semester of a clinical rotation or equivalent required clinical coursework. The Nurse Intern position is intended for actively enrolled nursing students and is time-limited through completion of the nursing program. Upon graduation, the Nurse Intern is no longer eligible to remain employed in the Nurse Intern classification and may be considered for transition to another eligible position in accordance with organizational requirements and available opportunities. Participation in the Nurse Intern Program does not guarantee selection into an RN Residency Program or a future RN position.

Start Date: 01/04/2027

End Date: This is a temporary position, with an anticipated end date corresponding to the intern's completion of their nursing program.
