Job summary

Community Memorial Health System is seeking a Sitter, CNA/Nurse Tech Float Resources in Ventura, CA. The role supports safe patient monitoring and bedside care under supervision.

Candidates may be hired as Sitter, Nurse Tech or Sitter, CNA depending on CNA status. Pay scales reflect both classifications. We encourage candidates with or without CNA certification to apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification.
• One year of experience as Nurse Tech or CNA in acute care or SNF (not required for Sitter, Nurse Tech).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains constant observation of the patient to ensure safety.
• Provides patient care within scope of practice, promptly meeting patient needs.
• Redirects the patient as needed and appropriate.
• Reports changes in condition or concerns to the primary care nurse.
• When ambulatory, remains with patient and uses a gait belt as applicable.
• When patient is in the bathroom, monitors safety.
• Maintains constant observation for suicidal patients.
• Keeps a neat and calm environment for patient comfort.
• Prevents access to potentially harmful items.
• Documents activities accurately and timely.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $24.50 - $28.60 / hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The Sitter, CNA/Nurse Tech Float Resources provides safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care for patients who require a sitter while in the hospital, including constant observation, under the direction of a Licensed Nurse and/or Medical Staff.

Note:

Candidates may be hired into either a clinical or non-clinical Sitter position based on certification status.

Clinical position: Sitter, CNA - requires a valid California CNA certification.

• Non-clinical position: Sitter, Nurse Tech - does not require CNA certification.

The posted pay range reflects the full range across both classifications, from the lower end of the Sitter, Nurse Tech scale to the higher end of the Sitter, CNA scale

Qualifications

Notice to Applicants:
The position is available as either Sitter, Nurse Tech or Sitter, CNA. Placement into the appropriate role will be based on the candidate's qualifications, including whether they possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Candidates who do not possess a CNA certification will be considered for the Sitter, Nurse Tech position. The pay for this role ranges from $24.15 to $28.60 per hour, depending on the position and qualifications. We encourage candidates with or without a CNA certification to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification
• One (1) year of experience working as a Nurse Tech or CNA in an acute care environment or skilled nursing facility (SNF) - not required for the Sitter, Nurse Tech position
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains constant observation of the patient to ensure safety.
2. Provides patient care within scope of practice, promptly meeting patient needs.
3. Redirects the patient as needed and appropriate.
4. Promptly reports changes in condition or other concerns to the primary care nurse.
5. When the patient is ambulatory, remains with them and uses a gait belt as applicable.
6. When the patient is in the bathroom, remains nearby to monitor safety unless otherwise directed by the primary care nurse.
7. When sitting with a suicidal patient, maintains constant visual observation, including when the patient is in the bathroom or when family members are present.
8. Maintains a neat and calm environment to promote patient comfort.
9. Ensures the patient does not have access to items that could cause harm (e.g., butter knife, glass).
10. Documents activities accurately and in a timely manner to support quality patient care.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
