Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous maintenance or building repair experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, climbing, and walking for extended periods.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of nursing home safety standards and regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of the facility and grounds.
• Complete basic repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Assist with preventive maintenance of HVAC, lighting, and mechanical equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and emergency repair requests.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Set up and move furniture and equipment for meetings, events, and resident needs.
• Remove trash, debris, snow, and ice from facility grounds as needed.
• Monitor and maintain maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Follow infection control, OSHA, and facility safety policies and procedures.
• Report unsafe conditions and equipment malfunctions to the Maintenance Director.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and disaster response activities.
• Work collaboratively with nursing, housekeeping, and other departments to ensure resident comfort and security.
