Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bangor, Maine is seeking an experienced Home Health nurse for a 13-week assignment with extension potential. Job Title: Home Health
Location: Bangor, Maine
Schedule: 7:00AM - 7:00PM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $72 - $77/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Home Health for a temporary assignment in Bangor, Maine. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a Home Health:

• Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations
• Ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times
• Assume the duties of the Director of Nursing in his/her absence as directed
• Develop, revise, and implement Nursing Department standards, policies, and procedures for all patient/resident populations
• Assure patient/resident rights by directing and/or providing care which considers each patient's/resident's value and belief system
• Function as a patient/resident advocate, providing information and assuring confidentiality of records
• Assist DNS in preparing and directing staff nurses to recognize potential problems, mobilize resources, and take appropriate action
• Direct staff in responding to complex patient/resident care priorities
• Act as a role model and facilitator for Nursing Department collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Ensure and maintain the competencies of the nursing staff
• Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide safe care to patients/residents
• Clarify nursing protocols and procedures with physicians and department heads
• Ensure the safe administration of medications per protocols in conjunction with the pharmacy
• Collaborate with DNS, Admissions Director, Case Manager, and Medical Director on infection control issues, nursing care requirements, and psychosocial, behavioral, spiritual, and cultural issues
• Attend required committee meetings and in-services including Fire Safety, General Facility/Unit Safety Training, QA Meetings, Infection Control, Disaster, Patient/Resident Rights, Patient/Resident Abuse Law, and Hazardous Communications
• Maintain current Registered Nurse License, CPR certification, and IV Certification
• Ensure procedures for Standard Precautions are followed
• Ensure and maintain a safe therapeutic environment for patients/residents and families
• Assure implementation and integration of quality improvement activities and implement corrective action when needed
• Monitor the quality of all aspects of the medical record through open and closed chart reviews
• Identify specific aspects of care for quality improvement monitoring and participate in data collection activities
• Serve on and participate in various committees including Infection Control, Pharmacy, Medical Staff, and Quality Improvement
• Act as consultant and/or participate in the development of interdisciplinary patient/resident education teaching plans
• Advise and/or assist staff in developing teaching plans for patients/residents with complex needs
• Participate in facility orientation programs and assist in identifying staff learning needs
• Develop and implement educational programs for staff
• Serve as a resource consultant, role model, and facilitator for staff utilizing advanced nursing expertise
• Orient management staff as needed
• Provide opportunities for student affiliations and collaborate with nursing faculty to evaluate and facilitate student placements
• Act as a preceptor for students as appropriate
• Take responsibility for own educational needs and sharing appropriate information with staff
• Cultivate a network of contacts within the healthcare community to promote continuity of care
• Evaluate or participate in the evaluation of clinical competency of personnel and make recommendations to improve quality of care
• Direct nursing personnel in emergency situations
• Evaluate the provision of support services and make recommendations to improve quality of care
• Complete employee performance appraisals and recommend/take corrective action as appropriate
• Establish on-call schedule and work weekends/holidays as needed
• Assume responsibility for narcotics and controlled drugs
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Relay information concerning a patient's/resident's condition accurately and effectively
