Mills Pond Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in St. James, NY is seeking a Part Time Cook to join our dietary team at the skilled nursing facility.

You will prepare and cook meals per posted menus and diet orders, ensure on-time service and proper food temperatures, and follow therapeutic diet guidelines under the Dietitian or Dietary Manager. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to posted menus, standardized recipes, and diet orders.
• Ensure meals are prepared on time and served at the proper temperature and consistency.
• Follow therapeutic and modified diet guidelines as directed by the Dietitian or Dietary Manager.
• Taste-test food for quality, flavor, and appearance before service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
• Properly store and label all food items; monitor refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily.
• Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food and supplies.
• Minimize waste through proper portion control and inventory practices.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.
• Work cooperatively with other dietary staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
• Follow all safety policies and report unsafe conditions or equipment immediately.
• Attend required in-service training and staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
