Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or BSN with enrollment in an MSN program.
  • Current Virginia RN license or multistate licensure with eligibility to obtain immediate licensure.
  • Minimum of two years of direct patient care experience as an RN.
  • Experience using a variety of computer software programs and ability to learn new ones, particularly related to online instruction.
  • Ability to teach students effectively and create lesson plans.
  • Dedication to the community college mission.
  • Ability to teach a diverse student population.
  • Experience with instructional technologies.

Responsibilities

  • This teaching role delivers nursing instruction in person with supplemental online components.

Blue Ridge Community College is seeking a full-time, 9-month Nursing Faculty. The two-year Associate Degree program is designed to prepare students educationally as contributing members of the health care team, rendering direct patient care as beginning practitioners of nursing in various health services facilities. The Associate Degree Nursing Program at BRCC is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing (VABON).

Blue Ridge Community College’s Nursing Program consistently surpasses NCLEX pass rate benchmarks set by the VABON. This accomplishment reflects the commitment of its dedicated faculty, the strength of its curriculum, and the hard work and perseverance of its students. This position includes instruction focusing on client care across the lifespan in a variety of settings. BRCC delivers a concept-based curriculum which offers faculty the opportunity to teach a variety of content. This position includes didactic, clinical, lab, and simulation instruction.

Blue Ridge Community College faculty are expected to participate in scholarly engagement, professional development which includes teaching pedagogy, institutional responsibility, and community service to both the campus and surrounding communities.

This is a full-time, 9-month, 24-pay, Teaching Faculty position with full state benefits. Work schedule: All nursing courses are delivered in person, at the Weyers Cave location. All courses contain supplemental online components. Clinical instruction is delivered at a variety of locations and may include day, evening, or weekend instruction.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN), or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree AND current enrollment in an MSN program
  • Current license or a multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse (or eligibility to obtain immediate licensure), unrestricted and undisciplined
  • Minimum of two years of experience in direct patient care as a registered nurse
  • Dedication to the community college mission
  • Experience using a variety of computer software programs and ability to learn new ones, particularly related to online instruction
  • Ability to teach students effectively and create lessons plans
  • Passion for the field of Nursing and for teaching
  • Ability to use creativity, innovation, and compassion to instruct and engage students
  • Ability to teach a diverse student population
Additional Considerations:
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Recent acute care experience in a hospital setting
  • Use of instructional technologies
