Job summary

Grand Canyon University invites applications for a Foundations Lab/Clinical Instructor in the accelerated BSN program at Lake Mary, FL. You will reinforce didactic content and supervise clinical and lab learning, collaborating with faculty to document student progress.

Requirements include a MSN, an unencumbered FL RN license, and at least 2 years of medical/surgical or long-term care experience; prior teaching is preferred. Travel to student sites is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• Unencumbered Florida RN license is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ work experience in medical/surgical, long term care, or skilled nursing.
• Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce didactic content and teach in clinical and lab settings for pre-licensure Nursing.
• Collaborate with faculty to evaluate and document student progress.
• Participate in grading written and Clinical/Lab performance checks.
• Maintain communication with program faculty and attend select meetings.
• Stay current with trends in nursing practice and ensure accreditation compliance.
• Travel to clinical sites to observe student performance.

The College of Nursing and Healthcare Professionals at GCU launched a 16-month ABSN program with it's first cohort May 2025. In preparation for the launch, we are seeking a Foundations Lab/Clinical Instructor.

Target Hire: November 2, 2026

Location: 605 Crescent Executive Ct, Lake Mary FL

Schedule: Onsite Monday thru Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, flexibility for Clinical Rotations

What you will do:

• Reinforce didactic content and teach in the context of the clinical and lab application of knowledge and skills related to pre licensure Nursing
• Collaborates with content area faculty to provide expert evaluation and documentation of student progress toward clinical and lab objectives
• Participate in grading written and Clinical/Lab performance check-offs
• Preserve lines of communication with program faculty and director including attendance in select faculty meetings
• Remain current with new trends and development in the specific field of nursing practice
• Maintain compliance with requirements for program accreditation
• Uphold the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession as well as the pillars of the University
• Requires travel to student clinical sites to directly observe student performance

What you will need:

• Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) required
• Unencumbered FL RN license
• Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in medical/surgical, long term care, and/or skilled nursing
• Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred
• Evidence of involvement in one’s professional area (e.g., membership in professional organizations, presentations, research, and/or publications).
• Must successfully pass a drug test
• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and preceptors
• Participation in and/or support of the university program in all areas including an evident congruence with the philosophy and direction of the institution, and service to the community
• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University
