Hiring Range: Salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant. Hiring range is $63,000- $85,000.

Full Time or Part Time: Full Time

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is the third largest community college in Virginia and offers a variety of academic programs and services to the residents of the City of Richmond and five nearby counties. Annually, our three campuses serve approximately 15,000 credit students and provide training for 5,700 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The position will be assigned to the School of Nursing and Allied Health, located on the Downtown Campus, 700 E. Jackson Street.

Position Summary

The Nursing Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction primarily in clinical and laboratory settings within the nursing program. The position supports the College’s mission by delivering effective instruction, advising students, and participating in departmental and college service activities. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend classes and may be located across multiple campuses and off-campus clinical sites.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A graduate degree, preferably with a major in nursing; orA baccalaureate degree and be actively enrolled in a graduate program.
  • An unrestricted Registered Nurse’s license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct client care nursing experience or its equivalent within the past five (5) years or two (2) years of full-time teaching in nursing education or its equivalent (30 credits is equal to 1 year).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Additional Considerations
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent teaching experience in a nursing program.
  • Experience in psychiatric mental health nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in both didactic and clinical settings, including course development, student assessment, course evaluations and advising.
  • Education to include principles of teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology routinely into instructional responsibilities (multimedia, flipped classroom teaching strategies, and test construction).
  • Demonstrated understanding of concept-based teaching principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations in an urban setting.
