Job summary

Southern Careers Institute is seeking a Nursing Instructor for the Brownsville campus to lead classroom and clinical instruction across nursing specialties. You will develop and update curricula aligned with industry standards and accreditation requirements, and supervise student clinical rotations in teaching hospitals and healthcare facilities.

The role requires a Texas RN license and a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN preferred).

Qualifications

• Current Texas RN license.
• Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in Nursing (MSN preferred). If Master’s in another field, BSN with at least 6 graduate credits in nursing.
• Evidence of teaching ability and current clinical knowledge; prior university teaching is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, patient care procedures, documentation review, and healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update nursing curricula aligned with accreditation requirements and industry standards.
• Deliver lectures and clinical instruction across nursing specialties.
• Supervise students during clinical rotations in teaching hospitals and healthcare facilities.
• Assess student performance via exams, practicums, and care plans; provide constructive feedback.
• Engage in research related to nursing education or healthcare practices and present findings.
• Participate in curriculum development incorporating medical terminology and current healthcare trends.
• Maintain documentation of student progress, clinical evaluations, and accreditation compliance.
• Stay updated on nursing practice advancements including phlebotomy, critical care, and hospital protocols.
