Job summary

Ryders Health is seeking a Director of Staff Development at Bel-Air Manor in Newington, CT. This full‑time leadership role will oversee orientation and ongoing education for all nursing and care staff, ensuring training programs deliver high-quality, resident-centered care.

You will partner with nursing leadership to assess educational needs, ensure regulatory alignment, and foster a culture of learning, coaching, and professional growth across the facility.

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted RN license in Connecticut.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Minimum clinical nursing experience with 2+ years as a licensed nurse.
• Experience in nursing education or staff training or willingness to complete coursework.
• Current CPR/BLS certification as required by policy.

Responsibilities

• Lead orientation and ongoing education programs for all nursing and care staff.
• Plan, conduct, and evaluate in-service and competency training.
• Maintain records of orientation, attendance, skills, certifications, and training.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify learning needs and develop plans.
• Monitor staff competency and provide remediation or additional education as needed.
• Mentor staff and promote a positive learning culture.
• Stay current with regulations, guidelines, and best practices in education.
• Support quality improvement, infection control education, and survey readiness.
• Coordinate specialized training and participate in facility surveys.
