Job summary

Ryders Health Management's Bel-Air Manor in Newington, CT is seeking a full-time Director of Staff Development to elevate the skills and performance of our nursing team. You will lead orientation, ongoing education, and competency training, ensuring staff are prepared to deliver high-quality, resident-centered care.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with the Director of Nursing and leadership to shape education programs, monitor compliance, and support survey readiness while fostering a positive

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted RN license in Connecticut (CT).
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years as a licensed nurse, long-term care experience ideal.
• Experience in nursing education or staff training, or willingness to pursue.
• Current CPR/BLS certification as required by policy.
• Strong interpersonal skills with residents, families and care team.

Responsibilities

• Lead orientation and ongoing education programs for nursing staff.
• Plan, conduct, and evaluate in-service and competency training.
• Maintain records of attendance, certifications, and evaluations for compliance.
• Assess educational needs with nursing leadership and develop learning plans.
• Monitor staff competency and provide remediation as needed.
• Mentor staff to foster professional development and a positive learning culture.
• Stay current with regulations and standards; update training accordingly.
• Collaborate with Nursing Director and leaders on quality initiatives and survey readiness.
• Coordinate emergency drills, safety and compliance training as required.
• Provide leadership during surveys and demonstrate program effectiveness.
