Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction in the School of Nursing. This 9-month, full-time non-tenure track position focuses on teaching and student evaluation without research expectations.

The role includes supervising clinical placements, contributing to simulation labs, serving on committees, and advancing professional growth in teaching and service while supporting accreditation and program goals.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution with unrestricted RN licensure in Ohio or multi-state.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Current medical-surgical clinical competency.
• Two years of teaching experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Proficiency in verbal, written, and electronic communication to interact with students, faculty, staff, and community.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate nursing courses, including didactic and simulation/skills lab.
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
• Assist in managing clinical placements and expand clinical sites.
• Serve on school, college, and university committees.
• Engage in scholarly activity and service aligned with faculty rank.
• Support accreditation/licensure goals of the program.
