Job summary

University of Akron School of Nursing seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction for a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track role. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate nursing courses, including didactic and lab sessions, with emphasis on foundational medical-surgical nursing in simulation environments.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Nursing with Ohio RN licensure (or multi-state license) and have at least two years of RN experience, BLS, and teaching background.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing from a accredited institution with unrestricted RN licensure in Ohio or active multi-state license.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Current medical-surgical clinical competency.
• Two years of teaching experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate nursing courses including didactic, LRC, and simulation/skills lab with focus on foundational medical-surgical nursing.
• Evaluate student performance.
• Assist in managing clinical placements and expand clinical sites.
• Serve on school, college and university committees as assigned.
• Engage in scholarly activity and community service.
• Support accreditation/licensure compliance and program goals.
