Samuel Merritt University seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach in the School of Nursing. You will create learner-centered environments, guide students through theory and clinical coursework, and monitor progress with timely feedback.

The role emphasizes collaboration with leadership in healthcare and academia and maintaining an active clinical orientation in a dynamic campus setting. The position is onsite at the Oakland Campus, with expectation for regular in-person engagement and

Qualifications

• Masters and/or doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience teaching diverse students at the baccalaureate or higher degree level.
• Unencumbered California registered nurse license or eligible for licensure in California.
• Demonstrated current competence in theory or clinical area at the student level.
• Experience working with leadership in healthcare and academic institutions and community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Creates a dynamic, learner-centered environment that supports diverse learning needs.
• Monitors student progress and implements mutual learning plans to achieve goals.
• Notifies program leadership of at-risk students and documents issues weekly.
• Teaches theory and clinical activities aligned with course objectives.
• Plans and delivers learning experiences appropriate to student level and maintains Canvas course.
• Responds to student inquiries within 48 hours and provides timely feedback on assessments.
• Reviews written assignments and final clinical evaluations for timely filing.
