Job summary

Allure of Zion in Zion, Illinois, is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and advance resident-centered care. This leadership role collaborates with administrators and interdisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and a positive nursing culture.

The DON will oversee staffing, documentation, and care planning while fostering professional development and a collaborative workplace.

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 3 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience
• Current CPR certification
• Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and survey processes
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all nursing services in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Maintain survey readiness and participate in state and federal survey processes
• Ensure policies and procedures support high-quality resident care
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs across all shifts
• Oversee nursing schedules, assignments, and delegation of responsibilities
• Promote staff accountability and strong team communication
• Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Ensure safe medication administration and treatment practices
• Address clinical concerns and implement quality improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with the MDS and Care Plan team to ensure timely and accurate assessments
• Promote resident and family involvement in care planning
• Partner with department leaders to support overall resident outcomes
• Support staff education, training, and competency development
• Lead in-services and mentoring opportunities
• Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork
