Job summary

La Palma Intercommunity Hospital is seeking a Director of Med/Surg to provide 24-hour administrative leadership over nursing services in medical/surgical units. The role includes staff supervision, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement activities to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate holds a current RN license, BSN (MSN preferred), and relevant certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS) with multiple years of supervisory experience in acute care.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state registered nurse license.
• BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS - (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Tele RN (PCCN) or (CCRN) or Medical Surgical Certified (ANCC) certificate(s) upon hire, preferred.
• A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
• Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting preferred.
• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. MSN preferred.
• Current PALS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility for management of nursing service functions within medical/surgical units.
• Develops and implements departmental plans including performance improvement activities and regulatory compliance.
• Oversees house supervisory responsibilities and responds to codes throughout the hospital.
• Supervises and evaluates personnel assigned to the unit and ensures effective utilization of nursing staff.
• Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration to meet patient care needs.
